Cooking Your Own Coffee Beans From Home

by Lisa Marie

The majority of people are feeling the pinch currently, so more and more folk are having a look at simple and fun strategies to economize at home. Lots of folk this Yuletide will be receiving bread makers as presents, they are definitely a cool gifts because they are fun to use, you save some cash and you get to make your own tasty bread in the midst. Masses of people are now also preserving foods like their gramps used to.

If you like we are in a new home cooking renaissance forced on us my financial inhibitions, but really enjoyed by all that take part.

Recently this trend is continuing with folk roasting their own coffee from raw green coffee beans. What is also quite interesting when roasting your own coffee is that you do not particularly need to buy any new kitchen apparatus, instead you need to use the standard popcorn popper!

Simply insert your green coffee beans into a popcorn popper and then turn up the heat, watch as the raw green coffee beans turn golden initially, then becoming their familiar brown color, then they are going to start to expand, crackle and pop. When the bean's sugars have totally caramelised you can turn the heat down and let them cool down, waiting in excitement and expectation to brew up a cup and taste your very own brand coffee.

The process of making the perfect roasted coffee is actually a bit more complicated than that, but in principle it is extremely similar and as much fun as popping popcorn.

Green coffee can also be consumed without roasting it. In its non roasted state (aka green coffee) it can be employed as a natural health supplement that helps with ageing and weightloss.

Its use as a slimming aid stems from its natural anti-oxidants, as you probably know, these help your body protect itself from free radical attacks, stress and damage. So the unprocessed bean may help to keep your body cells, healthy and well cared for, it is also rumoured to be anti ageing and some stars say it has done wonders for their waistline.
